10 Plugins To Fundamentally Have For New WordPress Installation

We all know that WordPress has a lot of useful and powerful plugins. WordPress is probably the most popular blogging platform because it’s so easy to use! I don’t know about you but I have tested different blogging platforms but nothing comes close to WordPress! After you setup it, you need to upload a theme and plugins and you are already ready to start blogging!  When you setup WordPress, it’s important you have the right plugins, so you get the most out of everything and make sure everything is alright, so you can start blogging peacefully!

Here is a list of 10 plugins you must have on a new WordPress Installation:

1. Akismet

Akismet is a powerful anti spam plugin for WordPress and it comes with your WordPress installation, but you need to register at WordPress.com in order to get your unique API key and activate the plugin. Pay attention because some WordPress users choose to review the spams, because sometimes Akismet will incorrectly marks a legitimate comment as spam. It has happened to me recently but I don’t have any problems tracking my spam comment because of the  ” Growmap Anti Spam Bot Plugin ”  . Since I installed this plugin, I  haven’t  had a single spam comment yet! This plugin defeats automated spambots by adding a  checkbox asking the comment author to confirm that they are not a spammer. As a new blogger, you have to make sure that your future posts won’t get spam!


2.Google XML SiteMap Generator

The Google XML Sitemap Generator will create a sitemap for your blog and this will help you a lot because it will notify the search engines of your site. The generated sitemap will compliant with search engines such as with Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com. It will definitely help search engines to better index your blog! Whenever I make a post, it indexes pretty fast and I can thank this plugin!

3. All In One Seo Pack

All in One SEO Pack is a powerful plugin that is a must have if you want to work on SEO for your blog! After you  install this plugin, you can tweak your title, description, and also insert keywords for each of your articles with just a few clicks!  You can have this plugin to dynamically generates keywords for your posts too!

4. WP Security Scan

This plugin Scans your WordPress installation for security vulnerabilities and will suggest you to take some security actions if you have forgotten them! As we all know, the chances of hacking and virus attacks have  increased and many big sites have already experienced these attempts. It will help you on giving you infos on your PHP version and complete module details,MySQL database prefix table details, .htaccess, Password strength generator and much more. It also allows you to change the table prefix because the default is wp_ which can be easily be imagined.

5. WP-DB-Backup

WP DB Bakcup allows WordPress users to easily backup the database, this is important to do because in the future, your blog might be hacked and it wouldn’t be a problem because you would have a backup of it.  You can choose these 3 methods to backup your database:- save to server, download to your computer, and email. You may also schedule your WordPress backup using this plugin, I personally suggest you to do it once weekly!

6.FeedBurner Feedsmith Plugin

If you are using Feedburner to host your feed (which is most likely the case), then you should download this plugin. The Feedburner Feedsmith plugin will automatically redirect your feed to Feedburner.com. So, it will slightly increase the amout of your Feedburner RSS subscribers .I put the direct link to the plugin file, so you can download it! After the installation, just go to your Settings -> Feedburner to set your blog’s Feedburner address.

7. Antivirus For WordPress

Believe it or not, viruses, worms and malware exist for WordPress and could easily attack your WordPress installation. This plugin will  monitor malicious injections and warn you of any possible attacks. It is a must have plugin! Some bloggers have had huge problems with viruses in the past so you have been warned!

8. Broken Link Checker

This  plugin is very useful because it will check your outgoing links and list out those dead links. Dead links aren’t really something great because they will affect your search engine ranking.

9. StatPress Reloaded

StatPress Reloaded is a powerful plugin that able to track your visitors. will show youdaily visitors, pageviews, spiders and as well as feeds accesses. It also tracks the search terms, referrers and last pages. I still recommend you Google Analytics for getting your traffic stats though but you can use both!

10.Contact Form 7

Contact Form 7 is a WordPress plugin that easily lets users create a contact form. You will able to let your visitors contact you. You can see that I use this plugin on this page. You can easily customize the fields and create a good looking contact form!


PS: Akismet tends to mark comments more and more as spam while they aren’t! I’m starting to dislike it!
