Yes, HostGator India will now host your site on servers in India. Their office is located in Nashik, Maharashtra and they provide 24/7 technical and billing support.
Of course, this will benefit Indian webmasters and small hosting resellers but there are also some drawbacks. The hosting plans and server pricing on hostgator.in are the same as US site hostgator.com but you will have to pay service tax @ 10.30% extra as required by Indian tax laws. However, you can easily switch from HostGator USA to HostGator India. Simply email sales@hostgator.in to take advantage of this!As I mentioned, the Indian office is located in Nashik, Maharashtra and they already have solid servers that are hosted locally in India. As you know, the latency to the Indian servers from within India and Asia is very low (network path is short too). The access times for sites hosted on such low latency network is fast (within India and Asia). Also other account functions such as access to Cpanel/WHM, Emails, FTP all have very fast speeds.
Also, you can’t pay in Rupees yet because currently, the indian site does it’s billing in USD but you will be able to pay in Rupees in the near future. The good news is that they will also be accepting payment via local banks using netbanking or via local debit cards shortly. Indian users have had a lot of problems with Paypal and online banking so this is definitely good news.
This is a great news for all Indian webmasters, now they can have the awesome HostGator experience in India. The news is a shock for all Indian web hosting companies because now they have to think about new strategies to compete with HostGator
Though they have made it official but it looks like a beta release.. Still many things needed to be added from them..Hopefully in some time we can see complete hostgator..in optimized for Indian users

Yes, there are some improvements to be made and it’s kinda a beta release but this kind of commitment proves that indian webmasters have more options.
